Suggestions
- Kindergarten Dictionary for Vocabulary
- With the entire class watching, play a game with several students. You (teacher) should play the "bad guy". Cheat and generally try to cause problems with the game. Then talk to the entire class about what happened and how a game should be played. Then let the children play a game in small groups.
- Using the vocabulary (rules and laws) discuss with the class that a rule is found in a game and that rules can change. Laws are made in our community to keep us safe and that everyone must abide by the law. Also explain that consequences will be determined if a rule is broken and if a law is broken.
- Explain to the students the "unspoken rules" that we should live by each day. They are not apart of the rules that are in the classroom but that they are apart of society and how we should deal with one another.
- Demonstrate for the students and expect that they show good sportsmenship on their team and with their opponents when playing a game. Demonstrate for the children how they should and should not act if they win or lose a game.
