This site is designed for kindergarten through eighth grade classroom Social Studies instruction.
On the grade links below you will find informative Essential/Non-Essential Information for each Standard/Indicator for K - 8th grade Social Studies classes that are taught in South Carolina.
This site will continue to change and grow.
On each indicator page there is a link at the bottom of the page which may provide you with Vocabulary, Streamline SC, Books pertaining to the topics, and Teacher Developed/external links which will help you to further develop the topics.
How To Copy From This Site using this format teachers can copy the information on each indicator page for lesson plans.
Original data was taken from SC State Department of Education document on which i was a developer.
On each indicator page you will find...
- the standard/indicator.
- After the indicator, you will find a () which contains the initials that denotes the Social Studies theme(s) that should be considered when teaching this specific indicator. P = political, H = history, G = geography, and E = economics.
- It Is Essential For The Student To Know: This is the information that should be taught pertaining to the indicator.
- It Is Not Essential For The Student To Know: This is the information that might be found when researching the topic but it is not important to this indicator at this time.
- At the bottom of each indicator page there is a link to information for instructors which will include: vocabulary of places, people, terms and phrases (to be used as a teaching tool and not as a testing tool), teacher given suggestions, links to other articles and/or pictures found on the internet, links to teacher developed articles, Streamline SC videos, and books.
