- Try to put this on the students level. A company makes three types of candy. One with nuts, one with raisins, and one that is plain chocolate. Take a vote in the class to see which one is the most popular. Then talk to the students about what natural materials are needed in the most popular choice. If there is one type of candy that no one wanted, talk to the kids about how the company would lose money. Talk to them about what would happen if the company did not make enough of the most popular candy. Explain to the students that they and their family can change a marketplace by not buying a product. Talk about the supply and demand of the people to have a certain product. Go further to explain to the students that people wanting something is often the reasons that new things are invented.
