Suggestions

• Talk to the students about how someone obtains a public office by campaigning and telling others what they will do to make the community better or what their opinions are on a certain topic.
• Talk to the students about what someone must do if they are working at an election poll. (Counting ballots, checking to make sure a person can bote, helping people who can not read, making sure that each person only has one vote).
• Talk to the students about that you have the right to vote or not to vote but that if you vote then you can say that you really have a part in the democratic process.
• When a person is serving in a public office they are to serve the “common good”, this means that they are to listen to the people who elect them and not to vote only their own feelings.
