Suggestions
- This is an overwhelming concept for first graders. First start talking about how a child can conserve at school and at home.
- Talk about the basic needs that the children often take for granted. Make sure that you are understanding of students social statis and family situation.
- Talk about any problems that might be going on in the world—current events—that might allow the students to see others without the conveniences that we have in this country. Use CNN and the internet for current pictures.
- Refer back to pictures that are used in k-5.4 Links To Information For teachers and ask the students how these pictures could be changed by polution.
