Suggestions

• Some place in your classroom, place a tape measure on the wall from floor to at least six feet up the wall. Measure each child and mark it on the wall with tape or sticky note. Take another measurement at Christmas and then again at the end of the school year. This will be a good time to talk about more and less in measurement.
• Contact parents to see if the child has any collections that he/she might want to bring to the class and tell about.
• Any collections that you might have bring them and display them in your classroom.
• Talk to the students about having a hobby.
• Give the children some suggestions to talk about such as brothers and sisters going off to school or how it would feel if they had to move and leave all of their friends. Discuss these issues and more with the students.
